A year ago, as the city geared up for a referendum on a proposed replacement for Newton North High School, Mayor David B. Cohen put his prestige on the line and urged voters to support the multimillion-dollar project.

Right, let me get this straight: a woman's group which is supposed to defend the rights of woman actually supports the oppression of women. Yup, these women allow men to hide them away, beat them, limit their education, stay at home and have children, and they object to somebody showing them a little love.

She said she plans to leave the committee when her term ends and pursue a master's degree in education in mathematics at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
